After the first day of internet/phone voting for the municipal election in the city of Sarnia, over five per cent of those eligible have voted.
The voting period opened Thursday at 9 a.m. and continues 24-7 until 8 p.m. election day October 22.
As of 9 a.m. Friday City Clerk Dianne Gould-Brown reported that 5.2 per cent, or 2,637 of the 50,470 eligible city voters, had already voted.
"It's a good turnout so far, actually better than we expected," said Gould-Brown.
Gould-Brown stresses that it's very important to follow the prompts when voting by telephone.
"If you have your candidates picked out and you have the corresponding number, you can listen to the prompt, enter that candidate, wait for a pause, and then enter the next candidate," she said. "At the end, it will ask you to confirm [your votes] by hitting the pound key."
Voter Help Centres are available throughout the voting period.
