Sarnia-Lambton real estate market has style

Sarnia-Lambton's real estate board president is taking note of the variety of home styles that are selling in the area.

Steve Park said traditionally bungalows have been the more popular style, and while 65 were sold in September, other styles are catching up.

"If you add them together, there are as many two storeys, raised ranches and other styles selling as the bungalows," said Park. "That's showing that it doesn't matter what style of house you're buying you can know your investment is relatively secure."

Park said while the number of sales for the month were down four per cent at 164, dollar volume was up 10 per cent at $48 million, a 10-year high for the month of September.

The average sale price so far this year is just over $310,000.

The highest number of residential sales was 15 in the $260,000 to $280,000 price range.

There are currently 208 active listings in the MLS system with 197 of those being single family homes, 191 of which were new in September.
