Sting win home opener over Firebirds

The Sarnia Sting defeated the visiting Flint Firebirds 4-1 in OHL play.

Flint led 1-0 after the opening period then the Sting scored twice in the second and third periods.

Calvin Martin, Adam Ruzicka, Ryan McGregor and Franco Sproviero scored for the Sting while Jacob Winterton scored the lone goal for Flint.

Winning goalie Aiden Hughes stopped 19 shots for Sarnia. Emmanuel Vella faced 50 shots in the Firebirds' net.

Sarnia is 2-0 to start the season and host Sault Ste. Marie Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
