Sarnia Man Charged With Resisting Arrest

A Sarnia police officer needed help while trying to arrest a suspect early Friday morning.

At around 5am, an officer saw a man riding a bicycle with no lights, southbound on Russell St.

After determining the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft of a motor vehicle, the officer tried to take the man into custody but he allegedly resisted and the two fell to the ground.

The officer's handcuffs were damaged in the struggle but police backup arrived and the suspect was apprehended.

Colin Michael McNaulty, 49, of Sarnia is charged with resisting a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of a motor vehicle.
