Sting's Jamieson Rees To Compete On International Stage

Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees has been selected to Canada's Under 18 hockey team that will compete at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup that starts Monday, August 6 in Edmonton and Red Deer.

Rees had 20 points in 46 games in his rookie season with the Sting.

Other OHL'ers on the team include Michael Vukojevic from the Kitchener Rangers, Graeme Clarke from the Ottawa 67's, and Ryan Suzuki of the Barrie Colts.

The team has an exhibition game Saturday against the Czech Republic and opens the tournament against Switzerland on Monday night in Edmonton.

Canada won last year's event in the Czech Republic, beating the host team 4-1 with a squad that included 18 players who were selected in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Canada has won the tournament 21 times in 27 years.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
