Sarnia Street Machines will be inducted into The Canadian Street Rodding Hall Of Fame at a special ceremony in Brantford October 27.
The group of classic car, truck and hotrod enthusiasts was founded in 1985 and have, over the past 13 years, raised almost a quarter of a million dollars for Pathways Health Centre for Children.
Kip McMillan has picked up the torch from his late father and long-time member Bob and says the group is overwhelmed by the honour.
"To be nominated in the first place was a wonderful honour, but to be inducted, wow, I wish my Dad was here to see this, and the membership is over the moon to be receiving this," says McMillan. " We're doing this for charity but we do this for fun. There's not enough groups around that do this kind of thing. We're dedicated to raising money. There's no profit in it for us. It's for Pathways and we do what we can to promote our communities."
Only one person or organization is inducted into the Hall of Fame annually. Sarnia Street Machines are only the eighth organization to receive the prestigious recognition across Canada and the U.S.
Their "Hot August Nights" show will be held in Canatara Park Thursday, August 2 beginning at 6pm.
