Longtime Administrator Wants Petrolia's Top Political Post

A man with an extensive administrative background is seeking the top political post in the town of Petrolia.

Brad Loosley, who has lived in the Hard Oil Town for 40 years, has filed his nomination papers for the office of town mayor, in October's municipal election.

"I started with the town in 1978 as Parks and Recreation Co-ordinator," says Loosley. "In 1985, I moved up to the Clerk/Administrator position. Later on, I was appointed chief administrative officer."

Loosley also served as Sarnia's Deputy Clerk for over seven years until his retirement and says he brings experience, knowledge and integrity to the table.

" I love the town of Petrolia. I feel I have something to offer back to the community," he says. "I have the time to do that and I feel my experience with a larger city and a smaller municipality gives me a good balance."

Former Petrolia councillor Bob Maniuk is also running for mayor.

Incumbent John McCharles has previously announced he will not seek re-election.

The deadline to register as a candidate is Friday, July 27 at 2pm. Election day is October 22.
