Police were notified around 4pm of an erratic driver on Lakeshore Rd. near Camlachie.
The OPP tracked down the driver and charged the 50-year-old woman with impaired driving and driving with open liquor in the vehicle.
Police say a breath sample also indicated she was over twice the legal limit. She has an August court date to answer to the charges.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
