The City of Sarnia wants your input on proposed changes to a number of transit routes across the city.
Transportation Manager David Jackson says they're looking at slight modifications, especially to improve service to Lambton College.
"We haven't done an update for some time for our transit routes, so the needs of our passengers have changed," says Jackson. "We have a significant increase in ridership from international students at Lambton College, so we're just looking to kind of make some minor modifications to improve service for those users."
The proposed changes include:
Route 1 would extend to service Lambton College
Route 2/11 would service the Strangway Community Centre and Bluewater Health instead of a section of East St. and Davis St. It would operate every 30 minutes during the daytime schedule.
Route 5 would run all day from Northgate to the Superstore and back with some minor route modifications
A new peak only route 6 would provide north-south service in the south end of the City using the Northgate Terminal - Capel - London - Indian - Devine - Ontario - Mitton - George - Russell - Durand - Maxwell - East - Exmouth - Northgate Terminal
Route 9 would serve Ronald Bloore Drive instead of David Bolduc Street
Route 12 would connect at the Northgate Terminal instead of the Bayside Terminal
Route 14 would run along London Road, past Lambton College, and back onto Exmouth Street instead of through Lambton Mall during weekdays and Saturdays.
Route 15 would add an extra run on Saturday mornings
Sunday service would start 30 minutes earlier to match Saturday service start time to improve consistency
The proposals will be going to city council for approval on July 16.
The goal is to implement the changes for September.
