UPDATE: Fire Damages Camlachie Home

Damage is estimated at $200,000 following a house fire in Camlachie Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from both Camlachie and Plympton-Wyoming fire stations responded to a single story brick home on Devonshire Rd. just before 5pm.

Fire Chief Steve Clemens says the cause is believed to have started near the bathroom where one of the occupants was doing plumbing work.

"It looks like the homeowner was doing a plumbing project and unfortunately caught some items around where he was doing some live flame soldering," says Clemens. "The occupants swung into action and called 911 immediately and evacuated their home."

Chief Clemens says firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the home, but smoke damage is significant. No injuries are reported.
