Horwath Hopes Third Time's The Charm In Sarnia-Lambton (VIDEO & GALLERY)

Ontario's NDP leader visited Sarnia-Lambton Monday for the third time since the provincial election campaign officially began less than a month ago.

"Third stop and there's only three sleeps to go until election day, it's all about the threes," Andrea Horwath said cheerfully during her campaign stop at Blackwater Coffee on Christina St. in downtown Sarnia over the noon hour.

Horwath said she's hearing from Kathy Alexander and other candidates in the southwest that something special is going on and people are deciding to "vote for hope for the future."

"Kathy's a fantastic candidate. We're excited to have her pushing right to the end. The people of Sarnia have a real opportunity to send a bright, energetic woman to fight for Sarnia. To make sure that the government that's elected on Thursday -- and we're doing everything we can to make sure it's an NDP government -- is keeping Sarnia at the forefront of our decisions," said Horwath.

When addressing a promise made by Ontario's PC Party Friday to resurrect the Slots at Racetracks program, if elected in the June 7 provincial election, Horwath stopped short of making a similar pledge.

"I don't know what's in the contracts," she said. "One of the things we've learned from the Liberals is that tearing up contracts, sight unseen, costs a heck of a lot of money. My understanding is [with] this contract, there may be opportunity there. But, I don't how far they've gone in terms of cementing the decision. But, I am absolutely committed, if there's an opportunity, to turn that around and if that contract has been signed, to find another way to make sure that we are reinvigorating not only the racetracks but the thousands of jobs that feed into those tracks."

Horwath started her day in London, and had stops planned in Chatham, St. Thomas and Woodstock after visiting Sarnia.
