South Plympton Public School is holding a Final Farewell Celebration Saturday, April 28. The school is slated to close at the end of this school year when students consolidate with those from Wyoming Public School at the newly named Plympton-Wyoming Public School on Thames St. The farewell event is on from 11am to 3pm and includes a silent auction, photo booth, live music and a staff alumni luncheon at 1pm. Former students and staff can browse through memorabilia from the school dating back to 1963. Work at the new consolidated school is scheduled to wrap up soon. The Lambton Kent District School Board received $3.7-million from the province to create new classrooms, a daycare and a gymnasium, and provided $2-million of its own money for further improvements including heating and cooling upgrades.
