Proposed sign bylaw changes to accommodate candidates in this year's provincial and municipal elections, bother Sarnia's Mayor.
City council is being asked Monday to approve the placement of election signs on grass boulevards adjacent to city roads from May 1 to October 31.
"Personally, I'm totally opposed," says Mike Bradley. "The City of Sarnia over the years has had a strong sign bylaw that kept election signs off city property, off boulevards. Other communities do it and if you visit those communities you see that environmentally, aesthetically, it detracts from the city."

Bradley thinks changing the bylaw would be a big step backwards.
"I also have great difficulty with the fact that it's elitism. Realtors can not put signs on boulevards. Non-profits technically can't do that, but yet the political community can exempt themselves for six months."
Bradley says if you can't get people to put your signs on private property, you shouldn't be running in the first place.
