Petrolia Vehicle Bursts Into Flames

A vehicle fire created a lot of commotion in Petrolia Friday morning.

Petrolia North Enniskillen firefighters responded to a home on Greenfield St. just after 9am.

Chief Jay Arns says an SUV, parked in a driveway, was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

"It was probably 10 ft to 15 ft. away from two homes," says Arns. "We had a quick knockdown of the fire, checked both homes for contaminated air or any hot sports, gave an all clear, cleaned up the scene and we left."

He says siding melted a bit on one of the homes, but otherwise, damage to the homes was minimal.

The vehicle, however, is a complete write-off.

"[The fire] originated in the vehicle. It looks like underneath the dash at this point. We can't really say for sure," says Arns.

Foul play is not suspected.
