Police Looking For Driver In Car/Cyclist Collision

Sarnia police want to talk to the driver of a car involved in a collision with a young cyclist on Monday.

A small silver car, stopped at the southbound traffic lights on East St. while leaving Northgate Plaza, knocked a 14-year-old off his bike when making a right turn onto Exmouth St. on a green light.

Police say at about 12:30pm April 2, witnesses saw an eastbound cyclist enter the intersection from the north sidewalk.

Witnesses say the driver stopped and checked the well-being of the cyclist before getting back in the car and heading west on Exmouth St.

The cyclist was treated for minor injuries at hospital.

Constable John Sottosanti says the investigation is ongoing and they're looking for the public's help.

"We want to find out all the facts," says Sottosanti. "At this time it's still under investigation, we need both sides of the story to come to a proper and complete conclusion."

Police would like to speak to any other witnesses and the driver of the car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable James Maginn at 519-344-8861 ext 6152.
