The Sarnia Sting (46-17-4-1) now have their sights set on the Ontario Hockey League playoffs following a record-breaking season for the franchise.
The Sting will battle the Windsor Spitfires (32-30-4-2) in the first round beginning on Friday, a team they beat in five of six matchups this season.
Sarnia finished third in the Western Conference behind the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds, and the Midwest Division champion Kitchener Rangers.
Windsor placed sixth with 70 points, a result they secured with a victory over the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday afternoon.
Co-Owner and Associate Coach David Legwand says it'll be a good battle.
"They play hard, they're going to come in and compete," says Legwand. "Obviously, they have Michael DiPietro in the net, and he's a top goaltender in the league. We're going to have to get to the net, get to him, and play our game. It's more or less going to boil down to what we do more than what they do. We'll be excited, we'll be ready, and Friday night should be fun."
The Sting are coming off a very successful campaign in which they set team records for wins (46) and points (97).
They also tied the Spitfires' OHL record for best penalty kill percentage with an 88.5 per cent success rate.
