Sarnia Sting captain Jordan Kyrou has captured the Ontario Hockey League's Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the leading point-getter among right wingers.
The 19-year-old Kyrou finished the season with 109 points, including 39 goals, in just 56 games played.
He missed 12 games, including his time spent helping Canada win a gold medal at the World Jr. Hockey Championship.
Kyrou had 31 multi-point performances, and led the OHL with 1.95 points-per-game. Overall, he finished third in league scoring behind Barrie's Aaron Luchuk (115 points), and Sault St. Marie's Morgan Frost (112 points).
The Toronto native has been with the Sting for four seasons. He was originally chosen in the second round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. He played 250 career regular season games, putting up 290 points including 99 goals and 191 assists. Kyrou was a second round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2016 NHL Draft.
The Jim Mahon Trophy was first presented following the 1971-72 season by the players and management of the Peterborough Petes in memory of their right winger Jim Mahon who was accidentally killed that summer.
This season, the Sting set franchise records for wins (46) and points (97).
The third ranked Sting host the sixth seeded Windsor Spitfires in the opening round of the OHL playoffs. Game one is Friday night, and game two is Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
