Sergeant Ivan Skinn of the Sarnia Police says 34-year-old Kyla Pevec has been located safe.
A missing persons report was received by police on Thursday after Pevec had failed for some time to maintain contact with her family, causing concern about her well-being.
Pevec was last seen by family members during the holiday season and had kept occasional contact via social media.
Police say Pevec also had an outstanding warrant.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
