The Sarnia and District Humane Society is reminding pet owners to keep their furry friends warm during the extreme cold.
When temperatures fall well below the freezing mark, many animals suffer just as much as their owners.
OSPCA Agent Nicole King says there are some clear signs of pets suffering from the cold.
"When they lift their paws too much or if salt gets in their pads, that's a big indicator," says King. "Also, if you find dogs or cats huddled in backyards or window-sills, they are too cold."
Despite the weather, King says most dogs can still go for walks to get some exercise.
