Gruesome Discovery In South End Sarnia

An investigation is underway after five severed squirrel heads were discovered earlier this month in Sarnia.

Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) agent Nicole King says they were called to a south end grocery store when the heads were found in the top basket of a shopping cart.

"It's very concerning that's for sure," says King, who is asking anyone with information to come forward.

"We had talked to the grocery store and we looked at video footage of security cameras, which were not on this particular spot. So, that didn't help us," she says. "That's why we've reached out, hopefully for public assistance if anybody's seen anything or if anybody had been told about it from a friend or a family member. Maybe we'll get a call in that way."

King says the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has been notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call 519-384-3647.
