No Injuries In Camlachie House Fire Friday

Total damage is estimated at $120,000 in a house fire in the 3000 block of Egremont Rd. in Camlachie Friday afternoon.

Around 12:25pm, an alert resident called 911 after spotting a fire that started outside of the home and spread to the attic.

Plympton-Wyoming Fire Chief Steve Clemens says crews were able to quickly contain it, and the lone occupant was not hurt.

"Upon arrival, it was already a structure fire," says Clemens. "The Camlachie station responded first, and Wyoming responded as well. We were able to keep it to just the attic portion of the home, but there was a significant loss and unfortunately the occupants of the building won't be able to stay in that home for the next little while."

Students at Errol Village Public school were told to stay indoors during the blaze as a precaution due to smoke.

Clemens says the exact cause will go down as undetermined. The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was not called, as the fire is not deemed suspicious.
