Community Pulls Together To Recover Missing Cash

It was a great example of the community pulling together.

On Monday, a Petrolia resident returned home in the evening after doing some banking.

Police say as they were unlocking the front door, they accidentally dropped the envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash. Gusty winds blew the envelope away and scattered the bills around the neighbourhood and street.

Lambton OPP responded and the next day, and an officer went to nearby Queen Elizabeth School. Several students and neighbours searched the area and located all but $100 of the missing money.

If you happen to find two $50 bills near the school, you're being asked to do the right thing and return it to the Petrolia OPP detachment.
