Contingency Plans In Case of Strike At Lambton College

The 12,000 faculty members at 24 Ontario Community Colleges are poised to walk off the job at 12:01am Monday, October 16 after giving their union the strike mandate.

Lambton College spokesperson Cindy Buchanan says should a strike occur, the college will remain open but classes would be cancelled.

"All regular full-time post secondary programs and apprenticeship programs, along with continuing education courses and field and clinical placements would be suspended for the duration of the strike," says Buchanan. "Co-op placements and work-study positions will continue, though, and the College will be open regular hours."

The Ontario Early Years Centre would operate as normal and most resources including the library, the Family Wellness Centre, Bookstore, and Computer Labs will stay open.

There are 126 full time and 79 partial load faculty at Lambton College.

No new talks are planned.
