Construction To Begin On Housing Units In Petrolia

A local developer is doing his part to help fix the lack of low-income housing in Petrolia.

Ray Dobbin of RMDobbin Enterprises is embarking on a project to turn 2.2 acres of land into eight residential units, five of which will be affordable.

They'll be located just north of the Farmer's Market off of Tank St., near the Petrolia Community Centre.

Dobbin says he purchased the land from Louis Bratanek, who developed another complex nearby.

Construction will begin in mid-October, with the hope of housing tenants in June 2018.

He says the project will cost about $1-million, but a subsidy through the County of Lambton will cover up to 75% of the cost of the affordable units.
