Banding Together For Clean Water

They say there's strength in numbers.

Petrolia Mayor John McCharles says four municipalities, Enniskillen, Dawn-Euphemia, Oil Springs and Petrolia, have applied for provincial infrastructure funding to help pay for improvements to the Petrolia Water Treatment Plant in Bright's Grove.

"I believe this is the first time four municipalities have worked together to submit an application to the Ontario Communities Infrastructure Fund," says McCharles. "The combined amount will be about $7-million. The project has about an $8-million price tag with the difference coming from reserves. Petrolia has put away money for this type of project."

The treatment plant supplies water to some 12,000 residents.

It's hoped a decision on funding will come by the end of January.
