There are four meetings this week and another on Tuesday, September 19, to discuss the city of Sarnia's draft tree bylaw.
City staff are holding an open meeting Tuesday, September 12 at the Clearwater Community Centre. A presentation begins at 1pm, to be followed by a question and answer period.
Tree experts including landscapers and tree service companies meet Wednesday, September 13 at 5pm, again at Clearwater Arena.
On Wednesday, natural heritage and conservation groups meet at 10am at the Canatara Park Kiwanis Pavilion. Then, the Chamber of Commerce is inviting builders, developers, construction industry and other businesses to a meeting at their Christina St. office at 5pm.
And on Tuesday September 18, a general public meeting will be held at 7pm at Sarnia City Hall.
The proposed bylaw would curb tree cutting in private property and woodlots in an attempt to curb clear-cutting.
Opponents say the city has no right to tell people what they can and cannot do on their own property.
