Bailey Lobbying Del Duca On Transport Issues Including NOVA

Sarnia-Lambton's MPP has a list of issues to discuss with Ontario's Transportation Minister including the prospect of NOVA Chemicals building a new world-scale polyethylene plant.

On CHOK's The Talk Show Friday morning Bob Bailey said he has a good working relationship with Steven Del Duca despite being on the opposition side of the legislature.

"I've had some good interactions with him and made him aware of some other issues down here," says Bailey. "If NOVA wants some highway changes down here on 40 highway and Rokeby Line, those are all issues in the works already, but we can talk about those as well."

The NOVA project would require Hwy. 40 upgrades at the Petrolia Line and Rokeby Line intersections.

Work has begun on an environmental assessment study but the company has yet to announce whether its proceeding with the new plant on land at its existing Corunna site.

Bailey is confident expansion plans will proceed and suggests they could advance the long-planned widening of Hwy. 40 in Sarnia.

The Conservative MPP has invited the minister to Sarnia to discuss issues including Hwy. 402 safety concerns following two multi-transport truck crashes within a week earlier this summer.

Del Duca has said he hopes to arrange a visit.
