Close Call For Boaters On St. Clair River

Point Edward Fire & Rescue was called to the St. Clair River this weekend for an overturned vessel with people in the water.

The service reported in a Facebook post Monday, that firefighters arrived on scene with U.S. Coast Guard and a Good Samaritan assisting the vessel in distress.

Point Edward Marine 2 transported all four individuals to Bridgeview Marina where they were checked by Lambton EMS as a precaution and released.

None of the individuals on board had personal flotation devices. (PFDs)

Point Edward Fire and Rescue would like the thank the fisherman who assisted the people in the water and towed the vessel back to safety.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
