CMHC Market Analyst Amran Wali says work started on 21 single family homes last month, the exact same as June 2016.
Wali says Sarnia has not experienced a record spike in housing starts like neighbouring markets including London, but is still within the ten year average.
He says total starts year to date are up over last year by 8% with 96 starts.
The numbers include Sarnia, St. Clair Township and Point Edward.
They were produced during an intense storm last Saturday afternoon.
