A 51-year-old man faces various charges including forcible confinement in connection with a break and enter that was allegedly fabricated. Sarnia police responded to a business in the 1300 block of Plank Rd. around 11pm Monday, where a break-in suspect reportedly had been apprehended by a business owner. Police say that further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Branch revealed the 24-year-old suspect was actually the victim. It's alleged the owner of the business fabricated a plot to lure the man to the area, where he was assaulted and then held for police. Paul Babcock was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and public mischief. He was held for a bail hearing and released. The 24-year-old victim was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released. The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact city police or Crime Stoppers.
