Red Cross Welcomes Donations For Flood Relief

The Canadian Red Cross is welcoming donations for flood relief in Quebec and eastern Ontario.

Spokesperson Jennifer Ouellette says over $4-million has already been raised nationally for the Spring Floods Appeal.

She says you can donate in person at the East St. branch in Sarnia, online at www.redcross.ca or by calling the red cross 1-800-418-1111.

"So once they choose to make a donation they will have a choice to designate their donation, either to the response in Quebec specifically or whether help may be needed most across the country, so this means the donation would be used to provide essential support to the most affected regions across Canada," says Ouellette.

She says residents can also text the word "flood" to 30333 for a $10 donation.

Following a helicopter tour of flood ravaged areas Thursday the prime minister urged Canadians to contribute to Red Cross relief efforts.

Justin Trudeau also said the federal government has contributed $1-million to the Red Cross and has assistance programs in place for victims.
