'Extra Helping' Food Drive Kicks Off

Sarnia's Salvation Army has partnered with Loblaws Real Canadian Superstore on London Rd. for a spring food drive.

Captain Nancy Braye says the "Extra Helping" food drive starts Friday and runs until April 15.

"The Salvation Army food bank assists an average of 800 people each month," says Braye. "We are really in need of donations. There's two different ways people can donate. They can donate actual food items as they're shopping in the store. They can bring them to the large donation box near the cash registers or they can donate $2 at the cash registers when they're paying for their own groceries."

The most needed items at the moment are peanut butter, baby formula, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meat or fish and soups.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Salvation Army, 970 Confederation St., Tuesday's to Fridays from 9am to 4pm.
