16th Annual Cyclone Aid Saturday

It's hoped over 25,000 lbs of food will be collected in the 16th annual Cyclone Aid food drive this Saturday.

St. Patrick's Catholic High School students held a pep rally this morning to boost excitement for the spring collection, in support of the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

The Rossi sisters, Isabelle and Juliette, are in charge of this year's event.

While over 200 students, along with their parents and staff at the school will be helping, Isabelle says community participation is encouraged as well.

"We're really hoping for a lot more people to show up, hopefully from different schools or even just family members in the community" says Isabelle. "This isn't just from St. Pat's, this is for the whole community."

Juliette says the response from the community is one of the best parts.

"That's the fun part about these traditions that we have," says Juliette. "Alumni will come back and will help because it was such a fun experience for them that they want to keep on coming back and helping the community."

Students plan to canvass every home in Sarnia, Pt. Edward and Bright's Grove between 9am and noon.

Residents are encouraged to place their non-perishable food donations outside the door Saturday, to expedite collection.

Donations can also be dropped off at the school during that time.
