Plans are underway for Sarnia's fourth annual youth-led Reaching Out conference.
The one day event, which focuses on mental health and wellness, will be held at Great Lakes Secondary School this year.
Sarnia-Lambton Rebound Youth and Transition Worker Andraya MacMillan invites students 12 years old and up, along with their care givers or supporters, to attend.
"The hope of the conference is to bridge the gap between youth and adult allies, when youth are searching for the supports that they're needing in their lives," says MacMillan. "The day involves lots of community professionals hosting booths to get conversations flowing and connections happening."
She says young people hearing stories from people who've gone through their own mental health journeys can be very therapeutic.
"Last year we had, total with participants as well as speakers, room hosts and community youth professionals, we had over 160 people involved. This year we're hoping for more," says MacMillan.
Participants are encouraged to register at program@reboundonline.com or by calling MacMillan at 519-344-2841.
The March 18 event goes from 10am to 4pm.
