Man Charged After Vehicle Crashes Into Hydro Pole

A Sarnia man has been charged in a single-vehicle crash that knocked out power to about 150 residents Saturday morning.

At around 2:40am, Sarnia police responded to Mayfair Dr. between Lansdowne Ave. and Preston Ave., where a car had struck a hydro pole.

The power was out for several hours while Bluewater Power replaced the damaged pole.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man from Sarnia, has been charged with careless driving. Police say the offence carries a fine of $490 and six demerit points upon conviction.

The driver wasn't hurt but a 26-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries.
