UPDATE: Second Woman Faces Bank Robbery Charges

Sarnia Police have arrested a second woman in connection with a bank robbery earlier this week.

Police say a 61-year-old was arrested on Saturday after executing a search warrant on a home in the 400 block of Greenfield St in Petrolia.

Staff Sgt. Peter Murphy said that the woman, who has not been identified, has been charged with robbery, accessory to robbery after the fact, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of robbery.

Sarnia police received a call around 4:20pm Wednesday that the CIBC branch at Front St. and Lochiel St. had been robbed with money demanded from a teller.  An undisclosed amount of cash was taken though no weapon was observed.

Police have also charged 37-year-old Lindsay Rene Smith with two counts of breach of probation, robbery with threats of violence, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of property obtained by crime, disguise with intent and public mischief.

The woman arrested Saturday is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Police say the investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.
