Sarnia-Lambton's Conservative MP says she's concerned U.S. President Trump's travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries could result in longer delays crossing the Blue Water Bridge.
Marilyn Gladu says her constituency office has been busy fielding calls from concerned citizens.
She worries the American ban could be expanded.
"As more countries are identified or more folks are looked at, it's got to mean longer waits while folks are processed," says Gladu. "That's definitely a concern. We'll be keeping an eye on that. I think the important thing is to make sure that we continue to keep the lines of communication open, that we identify when there are areas of confusion and continue to work with the government."
Gladu says she has not been made aware of anyone in Sarnia-Lambton being directly impacted or detained at the Sarnia, Port Huron border crossing.
She says there was huge confusion initially until there was clarification that people with a Canadian passport or with a Canadian permanent resident card would be able to travel back and forth.
