Kevin Spinozzi had two assists as the Sarnia Sting beat the Sudbury Wolves Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena 5-2.
The win keeps Sarnia in third place in the OHL West Division with 42 points, behind the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Windsor Spitfires. Sudbury remains in a tie with Mississauga in the Central Division.
Sudbury's Dmitri Sokolov scored both of the Wolves' goals in the game. His first came just three minutes and 41 seconds into the first period. Then came four unanswered goals from the Sarnia offence. Jordan Ernst did the honours at 6:42 in the first with his fifth goal of the season. Troy Lajeunesse gave the Sting the lead over four minutes after that. Connor Schlichting got his first Sting goal at 13:16 of the opening frame to give Sarnia a 3-1 lead.
Anthony Salinitri picked up where the Sting left off in the second period for a goal at 5:05, his 17th of the year. Sokolov's second goal of the game cut into the Sting's lead at 13:55 in the second period. The score would remain 4-2 until just after the 11th minute of the third period when Jaden Lindo connected with his 12th goal of the year.
The Sting welcomes the Hamilton Bulldogs to the arena Wednesday night.
