Community Rallies Around Child With Tumour

The Sarnia-Lambton community is rallying around five-year-old Lucien Nadeau who has undergone neurosurgery to remove a massive brain tumour.

Thankfully, doctors in London were able to remove 90% of the tumour, but the young Sarnia boy still faces extensive rehabilitation and therapy.

A GoFundMe page has been started to help his parents Stephane and Jessica, who have two other children.

Family Friend Joeleen DeGurse-MacDonald says the community support has been overwhelming, with $14,000 raised so far.

"Sarnia-Lambton has been absolutely phenomenal," says DeGurse-MacDonald. "The most beautiful thing is seeing complete strangers supporting this cause and donating. One of the comments was 'you don't know me, I don't know you but my heart is opening up for you', comments like that are just so inspiring."

DeGurse-MacDonald says one of Lucien's hockey friends wrote his name on his stick so he could be with him during his recovery.

All local minor hockey teams are being encouraged to put orange hockey tape on their sticks in support of Lucien.

Luv4Lucien helmet stickers will be available at Micor Sports in the coming days.

There's also a yoga fundraiser planned for December 17 at 1pm at On Edge Fitness on Michigan Ave.
