Flyers Double Up Legionnaires In OT

The Sarnia Legionnaires (16-12-0-1) dropped a hard fought 2-1 overtime decision at the hands of the visiting Leamington Flyers (16-7-1-5) in GOJHL hockey action Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first period, Sarnia's Trevor Bogaert opened the scoring with his 2nd goal of the season. Jake Vince drove wide on goal and Bogaert tapped home a loose puck. Sam McCormack picked up the other helper.

Liam Hogan tied the game for the Flyers eight minutes later, and Scott Florence scored the overtime winner to seal the win for Leamington.

Sarnia is now 5-1 in overtime this season.

Legionnaires goalie Jorgen Johnson stopped 24 of 26 Leamington shots while Noah Hedrick made 27 saves on 28 Sarnia shots.

The Legionnaires sit 5th in the Western Conference standings with 33 points, 10 back of the first place LaSalle Vipers.

Sarnia returns to action Thursday against the  Vipers at the Brock St. Barn. It's the annual Wooly Toss game. Fans are encouraged to bring hats, scarves and mittens to the game and throw them on the ice when the Legionnaires score their first goal.
