Renovations to the eastern portion of St. Luke's United Church begin next week.
Part of the Sarnia church is being transformed into The Hub, a new central location for youth ages 16-24 to access 21 local agencies.
Ryan Mitchell, a second year Social Service Worker student at Lambton College, says there is a definite need for this in the community.
"Because the need to service youth and to provide services for youth continues to grow in our community, at somewhat alarming rates, this service will help many, countless youth in our community," he says.
Mitchell says the collaboration is unprecedented.
"We as a community really need to take a lot of pride in this, that we're developing this here," he says. "It's grassroots and this is something that hopefully will start happening all over the country and maybe all over the world."
Mitchell says there will be a need for sustainable funding and monetary contributions and other donations are welcome.
Soaps, lotions, shampoos and other toiletries were collected during Monday's "Fill The Tub for the Hub!" event.
The new space is set to open in January.
