Sarnia Police Deal Reached

A new three-year contract agreement has been reached between the city and the Sarnia police department's uniform and civilian groups.

Sarnia Police Services Board Chair Mike Bradley says he's pleased there will be no disruption in service with the previous contract set to expire in January.

"Too often organizations let the deadline pass and they get into negotiations and it drags out and other issues come up in the workforce," says Bradley. "We decided to go ahead early and negotiate and we did successfully. So, we're going into the new year with a three year contract."

The deal, for 111 full time uniform officers and 44 full time civilian personnel, includes wage hikes of 1.5% effective January first in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
