There were some lengthy delays for commercial vehicles at times Wednesday crossing the Blue Water Bridge into the U.S.
Westbound Hwy. 402 traffic coming into Sarnia should be prepared to slow down or stop. At one point trucks were backed up as far east as Modeland Rd.
Traffic has been building in advance of the American Thanksgiving Thursday and Black Friday. As well management and non-unionized staff on the Canadian side have assumed the duties of striking Public Service Alliance of Canada members.
Owner/Operator of the Blue Water Ferry, which runs across the St. Clair River between Sombra and Marine City Michigan, Morgan Dalgety expects traffic will start picking up there as well.
"Hopefully with the holiday weekend here, Black Friday and what-not, traffic should pick up for us," said Dalgety "It has been slow but this weekend should start the holiday season."
Nearly 50 maintenance personnel, toll collectors and currency exchangers at the Blue Water Bridge went on strike Monday.
