Alex DeBrincat deposited the winner into the net for the Erie Otters in their 4-3 win over the Sarnia Sting Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
With the win, the Otters maintain a one-point lead over the London Knights in the OHL West Division. The Knights defeated Niagara Saturday to keep pace. The Sting are in third place in the OHL Midwest Division, behind Windsor and Sault Ste. Marie.
Sarnia did start the game with a 2-0 lead. Jordan Kyrou led things off with a power-play goal at 9:56 in the period. Adam Ruzicka added to the Sarnia lead at 12:29 for his seventh goal of the season. Kyle Pettit first got the Otters on the board late in the period, but Sarnia maintained a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.
Jordan Sambrook tied the game up for Erie in the third minute of the second period, and Darren Raddysh gave the Otters the lead on a goal at 6:58 in the frame. The Sting would not go away quietly, as Jacob Stos got his first goal of the season at 10:01.
The third period found no scoring action until DeBrincat scored the game-winner on the power play at 15:39.
Justin Fazio stopped 36 of Erie's 40 shots to take the loss between the pipes.
The Sting welcome the Kitchener Rangers Wednesday night, while the Otters entertain the Sudbury Wolves Thursday.
