The County of Lambton is reaching out to organizations whose trucks are known to pass through the town of Petrolia, to notify them that heavy truck restrictions are now in place.
With the reopening of the reconstructed Petrolia Line, only trucks making a local pickup or delivery are allowed to use the road.
A heavy truck is any commercial vehicle with a registered gross weight of 28,600 kg or more. They're typically those with four or more axles such as tractor trailers and tanker trucks.
The new restrictions were endorsed by county council at its May 4 meeting.
Signage is being installed at various locations on the county road system to direct heavy vehicles.
