Today we remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.
Sarnia's Remembrance Day ceremony begins with the laying of a wreath at the Calamity at the Royal Canadian Legion on Front St. at 10:25am.
Participants will then march to the Cenotaph behind the Library on Wellington St.
Royal Canadian Legion spokesman Les Jones says it's important to remember all soldiers.
"I think people do forget that we were at war in Afghanistan for ten years and we've had peacekeepers killed in Cyprus, Bosnia and throughout the world during the last several decades," says Jones.
306 Sarnia soldiers died in the Boer War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and in Afghanistan.
Remembrance Day ceremonies are also being held across the county, including an 11am service at the Petrolia Cenotaph in Victoria Park.
The Post Office is closed today for Remembrance Day and there's no mail delivery. Banks, trust companies, and government offices are all closed.
Beer and LCBO outlets open at noon. Most retail stores are open regular hours. There is regular Sarnia transit service and normal Friday garbage collection in the city.
