Sting Outshoot Otters, Fall 7-2

Alex DeBrincat scored twice and added an assist to lead the Erie Otters (4-3-0-0) to a lopsided 7-2 home win over the Sarnia Sting (5-2-1-0) in OHL play Wednesday.

The Otters scored three first period goals off the sticks of Kyle Pettit, Brett Neumann, and Taylor Raddysh. Ivan Lodnia and Alex DeBrincat notched second period goals to chase Sting goalie Justin Fazio from the crease. He allowed five goals on 12 shots against.

Jordan Ernst broke the shutout with his third goal of the season, an unassisted marker at the 9:48 mark of the second period. Jeff King cut the lead to 5-2 early in the third period with assists going to Anthony Salinitri and Brady Hinz.

DeBrincat and Patrick Fellows capped the game with late third period goals.

Despite the loss, the Sting outshot the Otters 32-28. Sting backup goalie Aidan Hughes allowed two goals on 16 shots in relief of Justin Fazio.  Otters goalie Troy Timpano stopped 30 of 32 Sting shots.

The Sting will look to bounce back tomorrow with a game in Niagara on CHOK.
