UPDATE: Celebration Of Lights Takes One Year Hiatus

Organizers of Sarnia's Celebration of Lights hope to resurrect the event in 2017, but it will not take place this year.

Director Bill Suisham says they have no choice but to take a one year hiatus due to a lack of financial and volunteer resources.

"The grand total for this year is $750, and usually we need to raise around $20,000 to actually put on the full show," says Suisham. "It's definitely a short fall."

The Celebration of Lights has run over the Christmas holiday for 32 years.

The board says it will take the coming year to try to raise funds, recruit sponsors and volunteers needed to hopefully stage the event next winter.
