Real Estate Sales Steady In September

Real estate sales in Sarnia-Lambton held steady in September. 173 properties sold worth $38.7-million, down from $41.6-million in August.

Real Estate Board President Jane Baker says total sales dollar volume for the year is still up 10%.

"The highest number of home sales for the month of September was 42 sales in the $150,000 to $200,000 range," says Baker. "Second to that, 36 sales in the $100,000 to $150,000 range, last month also showed significant activity in the $300,000 to $400,000 range, 27 sales in that range."

Baker says MLS listings were down 15% for the month after increasing 37% in August. They're down 7% for the year. The average sale price so far this year is nearly $232,000.

The Sarnia-Lambton Real Estate Board also announced on Thursday the winner of its yearly scholarship that recognizes academic excellence. Betina Delorey, a graduate of SCITS, receives $2,000 for post-secondary education. Betina is studying Theatre Arts at Fanshawe College in London.
