Sarnia police have recently recovered a significant number of stolen bicycles.
Constable John Sottosanti says over the last month alone there's been an average of one bike turned in or recovered as stolen every day.
He says unfortunately, returning the bikes to their rightful owners is difficult without proper information.
"If you show up at our place and say 'I have a red CCM', well so do we, we have about 20 of them," says Sottosanti. "If it's your property, record what you have on that bicycle like your serial number. Put identifiers on that bike, take a picture of it and save it."
Constable Sottosanti says cyclists should always lock up their bikes with a strong durable lock.
He says thieves tend to carry bolt cutters and chain or cable locks are not that difficult to cut through.
